Authors: Todd H. Wagner, Christine Murray, Jacquelyn Goldberg, Jeanne M. Adler, Jeffrey Abrams
In 2001, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) formed the Central Institutional Review Board (CIRB) to conduct a single human subjects review for its multi-site phase III oncology trials. The goal of this study was to assess whether NCI’s CIRB was associated with lower effort, time, and cost in processing adult phase III oncology trials.

Gender Differences in Costs of Care in the Veterans Affairs Health Care System (Poster)
AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting (Poster)
June 2012
Authors: Jean Yoon, Ciaran S. Phibbs, Christine Murray, Sarah A. Friedman, Lakshmi Ananth
Women represent a growing number of patients in the Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system. We compared the health care costs of women and men VA patients and examined which factors explain differences in costs. We compared mean total annual health care costs between men and women using one-way ANOVA. We conducted an OLS regression on the log of total health care costs with covariates for gender, age, and 39 diagnosed health conditions including gender-specific conditions such as pregnancy

2009 Advancing Ethical Research Conference: Navigating the Future Using the Belmont Compass (Poster)
November 14, 2009
Authors: Christine Murray, Cherisse Harden, Nicole Flores, Todd H. Wagner
As Human Subjects Protection Programs continue to adapt and change due to increasing workload (quantity) and scrutiny over the problems, we employed two different approaches to evaluate the NCI and VA Central IRBs. By presenting our methods – including what worked and what did not - we hope to enable future research to expand in this field.
